Coastal Digital is a website design studio based in Newquay, Cornwall, operating across Cornwall. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described on this page.

We collect personal information in one situation only: when you fill in the enquiry form on this site. That form asks for your name, your email address, an optional business name, and whatever you write in the message box.

We do not run analytics software. We do not use tracking pixels, advertising cookies or session recording. We do not buy, sell or receive marketing lists. If you never use the form, we hold no personal information about you at all.

We use what you send purely to reply to your enquiry, to prepare a quote if you have asked for one, and to keep a record of the conversation if it turns into work.

Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and where that does not apply, our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about our services. We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing you did not ask for.

When you submit the form, the details are sent to our own email inbox, which is hosted by Google. A confirmation email is also sent back to the address you gave. Those emails are delivered by the transactional email service provided by Lovable, the platform this site is built on.

Your enquiry is not written to any database. It exists as an email in our inbox and as an email in yours. Nobody outside Coastal Digital has access to it, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

We keep enquiry emails for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, then delete them. If you become a client, we keep records for as long as we are working together and for six years afterwards, which is the period we are required to retain business and tax records for.

You can ask us to delete your enquiry sooner. See section 08.

This site sets one cookie, called __cf_bm. It is placed by Cloudflare, who protect and deliver the site, and it is used to tell real visitors apart from automated bots. It lasts about thirty minutes and it cannot be used to identify you or follow you to other websites.

It is classed as strictly necessary for security, which is why you are not shown a cookie banner. There are no analytics or advertising cookies to consent to, because there are none.

Three companies necessarily handle data in order for this site to work:

• Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the site. Your IP address is processed to serve pages and block malicious traffic.
• Google — the typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google and your IP address is visible to Google as part of that. Google also hosts our email inbox.
• Lovable — the platform the site is built and published on, and the service that delivers the enquiry emails.

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred internationally, it is done under the safeguards those providers have in place for UK and EU data transfers.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
• have anything inaccurate corrected
• ask us to delete it
• object to us holding it, or ask us to restrict what we do with it
• ask for it in a portable format

Email info.coastaldigital@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

If we start using analytics, add a booking system, or change anything else that affects your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not make a change quietly and hope you do not notice.
